When March is coming I am searching for any signs of spring. Sunny mornings, fresh green leaves on shrubs, first flowers blooming from the snow. And for a dates of the Tulips show organized in the Wilanow Palace in Warsaw. For the last 2 years the on-line version have been adopted due to the Covid restrictions and have been quite disappointing.
This year finally the show was organized and despite snow all around in the first weekend of April, I entered the palace early as a bird. The garden around the Wilanow Palace is stunning from the spring to the autumn. I love the formal garden design, the beautiful summer rose garden and the forest part near the river bank. In the spring you can admire blooming magnolias against the south facing walls. In a few weeks the flowers will amaze all guests but this late snow was a real surprise for us.
Tulips for the garden
As a very fresh gardener, this time I really wanted to create for myself a detailed catalogue with names and pictures of the most amazing varieties. In the autumn, I would like to search for the specific tulip bulbs for my own garden.
In Poland we plant tulip bulbs from end of September to the middle of October. When the weather is mild we can plant them even in November. They like the sunny spot, which means I can plant them under the trees which allow a lot of sun in the spring, while later in the season they create a nice shade for the part shade loving perennials.

The Wilanow Tulip show is quite small but still I got a nice list of varieties of tulips to choose from. I tend to pick up the shades of blush, pink and purple. I was also amazed by a few vases with tulips in unique apricot – pinkish shades like Mango Charm or Salmon Jimmy.
